Pencil Case Prompts: Self-Advocating

To honor your needs is to reflect and prioritize what is most important to you and for you. Honoring your needs allows you to grow in self-awareness and self-compassion.

Become intentional with your needs so you can vocalize and advocate for yourself whenever your needs aren’t being met.

Activity

What are some ways you can honor your needs better?

-What are the ways to best honor your needs?
-Why are those ways important to you and your self-care?

My Reflection

I can honor my needs better by not feeling bad or guilty for being vocal about what I need.
If on the occasion I feel bad about asserting my needs, I tend to fall into people-pleasing behaviors abandoning my needs altogether.

Affirmation: I will be open and honest about what I need and not feel like a burden to others when asserting those needs.

As we continue the journey of learning what it means to set goals and carry them out, we come to the question of how to hold ourselves accountable for the goals we set. Without accountability, all we have are thoughts and ideas with potential. Without action there are no results.

Activity

So, what can you do to prioritize the goals you set?

-What actions do you take to prioritize the goals that mean something to you?
-Why are those actions important in your goal setting journey?
-How are those actions holding you accountable for reaping results?

Reflection

As ambitious as I am, I make goals all the time. Making goals isn’t the issue for me, remembering all the goals and making them feasible is how I can hold myself accountable to them. I can accomplish this by writing down my goals once they are manageable then create a plan and to-do list.

Pencil Case Prompts: Goals and Challenges

From not knowing what types of goals to make to racking up the motivation and will power to follow through with goals, we all know that setting goals can be challenging. Depending on how important that goal or task is to us can determine whether we engage with the process of achieving that goal.

Activity

What is your biggest challenge when setting goals?-What is the challenge you face?
-Why is the challenge difficult to overcome?
-How can you overcome that challenge?

Reflection

The biggest challenge I face when setting goals is making sure my goals are manageable. I tend to make professional goals that are “big” and take more than one step to achieve.
To help myself from procrastinating or abandoning these goals, I can maybe focus more on creating smaller goals I can accomplish in a shorter amount of time.

Pencil Case Prompts: Weekly Goal Book

Setting goals can be difficult especially if we find ourselves unmotivated or having lots to do. For me, it helps to break up my goals from least likely to accomplish right away to something I can do today.

Activity

This week, let’s focus on our personal goals and ways we can prioritize our self-care.

What is a personal goal you want to set this week?
-What is the goal?
-Why is this goal important to you?
-How can you make sure you prioritize and accomplish this goal?

Reflection

A personal goal that I’m setting this week is honoring my needs by starting my bedtime routine by 11:00 pm. Crippling insomnia has dictated most of this quarantine and I really need to prioritize my sleep so I feel less drowsy and achy the following day.

Defying Shadows Article: How to Achieve your Goals and New Year Resolutions

“Reminder: Remember to be gentle with yourself and the expectations of your goals. Some goals can only be achieved during different seasons of your lifetime and that’s okay. It’s okay to not be able to achieve all you want to achieve when you want to achieve it. It’s also okay to make small goals as well. Take your time with your goals and give yourself time to achieve them. Not everyone’s life will turn out the same and no one has it all together, so no need to compare another person’s accomplishments to yours. Everyone is different and there is no timeline to success.”

Plan as many short term goals as you need to work toward your bigger vision.

8-Day Reflection Card Series Day 3

What is something you are working on in terms of feeling fulfilled?

One of the greatest feelings is knowing you are continuously working toward something. Whether professionally or personally, feeling and doing your best is important.

Now that we’ve reflected on struggles vs. things we’re good at that can help us cope, what do we want to work on? What are our next steps to getting to a place where we want to be mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, etc.?

Reflection

Working on finding worth and value in myself is my main goal for this year. Whether it’s being proud of myself or not taking it personally when things don’t work out the way I planned, I will still know that I have value and worth.

The more I see myself as worthy of success and peace, the easier it will be to realize my intrinsic value.

Affirmation: I am filled with value and worth. I accept and love myself.

What You Manifest is What You Recieve

What you see for yourself, what you say to yourself, and what you speak out loud is what will come to existence. While noticing and accepting the power of manifestation, you are able to see the life, body, and mental stability you are exuding. The more negativity and doubt you spew into manifestation the likelihood of it happening will increase. Practice patience and understanding in order to receive and reap the benefits of your desires and wants.

Success is a state of mind in manifestation. You are already successful. Desiring more than your current state is only a matter of persistence and work. What you say you can do, you are already doing. You are working toward a goal, an anticipated manifestation.

Become more of what you want without the doubts that come with obstacles. The path that is created based on the work you are putting in, is what is being manifested to you. Sometimes it may not look exactly how you planned, but it is exactly what you need.

BayArt Article Yearly Transitions: A Continuation

Rethinking the New Year

The new year is not an excuse to try to do something different. The new year is not the only time where you have to start something better. We are faced with difficulties every day and every day is a continued chance to do something different and better. How can we think about our lives in ways that are progressive?
The more we procrastinate and remain indifferent or complacent with our current struggles, the less we will attempt to progress and learn from our mistakes and misfortunes. What are we going to do right now? How are we working toward our goals? In what ways will we set ourselves up for a steady transition for our next big moves?

How to Make Reasonable Goals and Next Steps

As we navigate our schedules, we must include additional next steps and add them to our past accomplishments. Let’s continue building instead of starting something new and different than stopping. As we create new goals, we must motivate ourselves to finish them. How can we make our bigger goals into smaller goals? What can we do now versus later? What is our overall goal to accomplish? How can we continuously work on our resolutions and not abandon them? What are we doing that prohibits us from accomplishing what we want? How are we breaking up our resolutions and goals? What can we accomplish in a day versus in a month?

To change how we think about the year and beginnings, we must first know why we are starting something new and if we want to actually accomplish that goal. Are we continuing our toxic behaviors or working on them? What are our professional, personal, and emotional goals? What about our next moves will lead us closer to our bigger aspirations? Are we serious about this resolution?

As we think critically about what we will do next, remember that every moment is important. Downfalls, failures, and setbacks are apart of the process. Grow, learn, and change your approach until you achieve the results you want.
The new year can be a great time to improve yourself, but it’s not the only time. Don’t forget all the progress you’ve already made. Add on to that progress. Build yourself up. Make your goals, resolutions, next steps, and aspirations a priority.

Freedom Quote: Have a Vision and Make it Active

However long until the last phase, until I’m able to take action on a vision, I will have that vision and I will believe in it. As long as I believe in it, I believe in myself, I believe in pursuing it, I believe in pursuing myself in it. I am what I want to be. My ideas, my visions, my plans, and my actions are who I am.

Bulletin: Your Potential Creates your Career

Remind yourself that you can create and navigate your career. Open your minds to different paths and approaches that all ultimately lead to your potential and interests. Don’t lock yourself in a cliche. Build who you want to become on the blocks of your opportunities.

Know that your potential is limitless once you understand the extent of what you can do with your interests. Research and open your mind to what you can do and the places you can go to utilize your strengths. You are your limit. Use your imagination. Create the position you want to be in. Be a boss. Be a leader.

In order to do what you want, to be in the position you want, you would have to find it or create it. Don’t be afraid to think outside your comfort zone and do what you think you can’t. Try different angles, attempt multiple approaches to your interests. You will get where you want to go. Believe in your work and experience.

Get to working!
