Introduction: 8-Day Reflection Card Series Day 1

For the next 8-days, I will be sharing prompts in my Reflection Card series. Each day will feature one card with a two-part fill-in statement of reflection: the first part being your name and second a reflection/confession.

Approaching the fill-ins are your choice. What you feel you need to reflect and come to terms with, you can place in the blanks. Whether you want to reflect on your mental health, past, present, or goals will guide your responses.

The first card is on struggles. What do you struggle with professionally, emotionally, personally, or spiritually? What do you want to improve?

Be open and honest with yourself about what you struggle with. Coming to terms with your struggles can be tough, but it can also open the door for self-awareness and moving forward.

Be gentle with yourself and your realizations.

My Reflection:

As an adult, coming to terms with my struggles is difficult. For this card, I will confess to struggling to let go and forgive others. Although for some, not being able to forgive or let go affects how they interact with others, for me, it’s the opposite, I blame myself. Ever heard the phrase “Hurt people, hurt people,” for me it’s “hurt people hurt/blame themselves.”

Next steps:

Moving forward in realizing I blame myself for the people that hurt me leaving it hard to forgive, I will work toward healing those wounds within myself. I will be content with not getting an apology and forgiving myself for carrying those burdens.

I will move forward with peace.

I will begin to let the pain go. Let it disappear. I will not carry this around anymore.

Mental Health Hack: Be on a Continuous Journey to Higher Consciousness

Build a relationship with yourself and those around you. Continue on to a journey of awareness and acceptance. Build perspective and allow yourself the privilege of the present moment. Move on in patience.

Construct a perception that shapes a higher consciousness. How you think and respond impacts your reality. Create calmness and boundaries prioritizing yourself in self-care.

Learn to love yourself, build empathy, and be grateful.

Open your mind, reflect on your experiences, and feel.

Be gentle with yourself and your journey. Absorb what you need from life lessons but also filter out what no longer serves you.

Give yourself permission to move forward without regret and guilt.

Be open to change and to receiving help.

Build community.

Forgive yourself.

Allow self-love to guide your decisions. Grow in yourself. Get to know who you are. Accept that you live on purpose; that you have a purpose. Open your eyes to something different then you’re used to, something better.

Become uncomfortable staying in the same place/situation. Move. Change. Shift.

Strive for something higher, something soul-satisfying.

Rise up.

Affirmation of Love

I accept that even though life may bring rejection, love will remain present and flowing into my life.

Despite the pain that may arise from wounds of abandonment, love remains present in my life.

As I grow into an adult and I grow in self-awareness, love will become more apparent.

The more I grow into who I am, self-love will also bloom as I do.

No matter the circumstance, I will always remember to affirm and acknowledge that love will always be present; both inside and outside of myself.

A Message of Strength

Stop focusing on those parts of your body that you hate.

That flaw you keep bringing up.

The stutter.

Your weight.

Being different. Having different abilities.

Your sensitivities.

Not getting certain types of attention.

Being single.

Feeling invisible.

Not feeling worthy or capable of what you want to become.

You are beautiful in everything you are. How your body moves, your intelligence, drive, ambitions, and strength. The way you love, your healing journey, and your talents.

You are a whole being on your own without the presence of someone else. You are seen and heard.

You are valuable and worthy of self-love. No one can give you the love you give yourself.

Enjoy your own company and bask in the splendor of how amazing you are. There is only one of you and no one else can be who you are.

Some days may be difficult, but that’s okay. Just always remember that your purpose is so essential it can’t be expressed in words.

Keep going. We need you here. We need you to exist.

Bulletin: It’s Okay to Ask For Help

There is no shame in asking for help when needed.

While we often believe we can accomplish everything on our own, help is often necessary to get where we want to go. Whether we get help for personal or professional reasons, the help will allow us the resources and knowledge to push past our obstacles!

Asking for help is one of the most fundamental ways to get ahead, but due to the type of help sometimes it’s difficult to reach out and get the assistance we need.

Here are some helpful tips to consider when asking for help:

  • Research the help you need based on what you think is best for you.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
  • Receiving the right help for you can take multiple attempts.
  • Keep trying even if you don’t get the help you need at first.
  • Not everyone you ask for help will help you. Do not get discouraged.
  • Help can be given in different ways. Be open-minded.
  • Just because someone can’t help you doesn’t mean they can’t be a resource, ask if they know anyone who can.
  • Extract information from all avenues of support.
  • Remember that you are brave for asking for help.
  • Know your worth!

#MightyPoets: Weeding Out My Past

I let go.
Everything.
I allow myself to flourish.
To bloom.
I pull all the weeds from around my insides.
I breathe again.
I inhale.
And exhale.
And with every exhale I blow it all away.
Into the universe.
Where it can no longer be found.
Getting lost behind the clouds.
Behind the stars.
I’m free now.
I’m free.
I let go.
Everything.
Weeding out my past.

Defying Shadows Article: Understanding the Strengths in Utilizing Your Emotions

“The middle ground when discussing and exploring the plethora of emotions is where we can build and accept our ability to feel. We are not “too much” or “too little” of anything and saying yes to our emotions is ok. Instead of being ashamed or embarrassed, we instead slowly begin to give ourselves permission to feel without judgment or ridicule.”

Allow yourself to feel.

A Confession: Today I’m Taking Control

What I’m Letting Go of Right Now:

  1. Feeling like I’m not worthy of love/like no one will love me.
  2. Believing everyone will eventually abandon me.
  3. Expecting rejection.
  4. Fear of mistakes.
  5. Wanting to be perfect.
  6. Embarrassed by being myself and getting excited over things that interest me.

What I’m Welcoming in From Now On:

    1. I’m worthy and welcoming of love.
    2. I’m free to be myself unapologetically.
    3. Accepting that people will flow in and out of my life.
    4. Loving myself unconditionally.
    5. Embracing my flaws and welcoming improvement when necessary.
    6. Being gentle with myself and giving myself time to heal from ideas that have been ingrained in how I think.

With even the slightest belief that I am worthy of healing, I believe that I can overcome the deepest thoughts that I’ve learned to live with. I will become new in this discovery.

I am ready for this breakthrough.
