The Mighty #CheckInWithMe Group Prompt: What Would You Tell Your Teenage Self about Love?

Reflection prompt shared with me by xokat and graphic created by me.

Activity/Reflection Prompt:

What would you tell your teenage self about love?

My Reflection

I remember when I was a teenager I struggled a lot with my self-esteem and self-worth. I later realized because of this my perception of love was impacted; I struggled so much especially with self-love. I remember always wanting to be in a relationship and being in the “fairy tale” type of love story. I thought that I would only be satisfied with the idea of love if I was in a romantic relationship with my “soulmate.”  Valentines day hit me hard every year because, to me, it was a reminder of my failures in love.

It took me up until now, as an adult, to slowly learn to love myself fully and unconditionally. I would tell my teenage self that love is all around me — from how I speak to myself, to the ones I surround myself with; from my creativity to my advocacy work; from how I interact with others to being in nature and expressing gratitude for what I have. Love is everywhere, I just have to open myself up to feel it.

Warm and Friendly Reminder: Love is vast and can show up in many different ways including in friendships, family (biological or otherwise), romanic relationships, in  work/hobbies, in nature, and in self-love. Love is never too far away.

Affirmations you can practice for self-love:

“I am worthy of acceptance and love.”

“I love myself.”

“Love is all around me.”

What about you? What would you tell your teenage self about love?

Pencil Case Prompts: What helps you when you you are struggling?

Activity

What is one person, place, thing, or idea that helps you when you are struggling and need support or a distraction?

Note: Feel free to share more than one if you would like.

My Reflection

When I am struggling, it helps for me to watch my favorite anime or create art with my cricut machine! I also love to write on my blog and create quotes that are the opposite of what I am feeling.

Pencil Case Prompts: New Year Agreements and Goals

Activity

What is something you want to work on this year? What are some agreements you want to make with yourself?

My Reflection

For me, I agree to be gentle with myself and take one moment at a time. I choose peace and prioritize my health; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I want to work on feeling good about positive things happening to me and believing I deserve them when they happen. I believe in greatness for myself. I’ve worked so hard to make it this far.

Resonate and Relate

Words are powerful. Once we identify as something we set ourselves up to the conditions of that label, behavior, belief, sickness, emotion, or way of being/thinking. Once we do not meet the criteria set by those conditions, we feel a loss of identity and belittle the extent of our human experience. There is more to who we are.

Resonate and relate without identifying. Allow yourself to experience the limitless opportunities of existence.

Affirmation: I am.

Activity

What quote, affirmation, or mantra helps you to keep going?

Note: Feel free to share as many as you would like!

My Reflection

My favorite mantra is one that I created comparing myself to a butterfly!

It goes like this:
Like a butterfly, I allow myself to transform – transform more into who I am every day. I will learn through the challenges and never give up. I acknowledge that transformation takes time and patience. I am ready.

You Are An Alchemist

In the process of growth we may come to a standstill in whether we want or are able to face the trauma inside of ourselves. We become afraid of feeling the feelings that are repressed. In those moments we ask ourselves, what do I do with this pain? Unprocessed pain manifests as disease, disorders, attachments, triggers, habits, negativity and other blockages that show us a lack or need in the energy within us. So what, in turn, do we do with the pain in our bodies? We must release it. We are not meant to suffer and hold on to pain for long periods of time. If we survived the process of enduring this pain we are also able to alchemize it. Standing in our power allows us to transform and create  something new in the process of releasing the pain that we may be holding. We are the creators of our own realities.

Alchemize your pain and transform into the indestructable being you are. Stand in your power. Allow the pain to be transformed in your favor. Learn the lesson and release the blockage. The lesson turns into an increase in awareness. You have all the abilities to do so. Pain does not define you and does not have to define or dictate your life.

I believe in you.
